A collection of World War I memorabilia of Capt. James Burke Cousart, my grandfather, (1888 - 195?). Upon his death, my father, Eugene M. Cousart Sr. kept it safe in a lock box for many years. My father died in 1981 and the material remained locked up for more than a decade. Worried about deterioration, I expressed interest in preserving it. My thought was to electronically copy and organize it so family members, and others, could know about a P.O.W.'s experience in the Great War.

I came into possession of this material in June of 1997, it arrived in a old plastic bread bag in very fragile condition. Sorting through the jumble of material I began scanning everything immediately - reading, research and understanding it all will take longer. It is my wish that interested parties can easily access, understand, and appreciate the ordeal my grandfather and the other prisoners suffered at the hands of Kaiser Wilhem's German Empire. Jr.
