...of the 133 & 3 officers who are missing are safely back to our lines.

The 15 hours of the battle made a great impression on me. It was wonderful indeed, and the terror of it with it's blood lust does not really strike a man till afterward when he has time to think it over away from all excitement.

This card of Bewron was sent me on receipt of the news of armistice calling for the release of prisoners.

Father Nugent called, we went to mass, and when he left us on Saturday we loaded him down with food and all the little things we had to give him, and gave him considerable money for masses, and in appreciation of his care and work for us.

He gave me a sweet little card for you for Marie Louise and one for Burkie...

What a difference between him and the poor representatives here in France.

 

Excuse this writing paper but when I see a piece of blank paper it suggests immediately a letter to you so this will explain why you get such funny letters and suck odd stationary.

I came across the cards from our Menu on the "Auchlises" coming over & kept them as souvenirs am enclosing them in this letter, it gives you some...

...idea of the excellent mess we had on the way over. That sure was a fine rest, I will tell you all about it some of these days.

On one occasion when we were over ten days out from N.Y. we suddenly changed our course and went to Iceland, hung around there for two days, it sure was cold, them we raced pell mell down thru the Irish Sea to our landing place, Burkinghead, Eng.

It sure was an interesting trip, I enjoyed it...
